How to play

Tap falling Glowberries to collect them, then place cubs from the satchel onto open trails. A Berry Raccoon gathers more berries. A Pebble Fox flings pebbles. A Stump Bear blocks. Later nights unlock moles, otters, owls, and more. Each open trail has one Thistle Roller; when a bug reaches the den, that roller is spent. One Pantry Rescue riddle can put a roller back. From night five, Wisdom Berries pause for a riddle and a gift, Quiz Bugs wear answer signs, and every third correct answer in a row grants a free gift. Twenty-five nights across five regions: Meadow Edge is math, Mossy Creek is science, Whispering Pines is words, Harvest Hollow is world knowledge, and Moonlit Hive mixes them with the Hive Captain. Clear every night and winter is saved.

Learning Guide

Cubs & Bugs is a lane-defense story in the Hollow Wood. Baby forest animals are placed on trails to stop the Bug Brigade from raiding the Winter Pantry, and the learning arrives with Hoot the owl: riddles in math, science, words, and world knowledge on Wisdom Berries, Quiz Bugs, and the Hive Captain. Placing a cub is the whole game, and the riddle is the pause that earns the next gift.

There are twenty-five nights across five regions, and the questions follow the woods. Meadow Edge stays on math. Mossy Creek moves to science. Whispering Pines is words. Harvest Hollow is world knowledge. Moonlit Hive mixes all four and brings the Hive Captain. New cubs and bugs unlock as the nights go on. The bank has at least sixty questions and does not repeat one until every one has been used.

A night starts with 100 Glowberries and a short ready period. Tap falling Glowberries to collect them, then place a cub from the satchel onto a trail tile. A Berry Raccoon gathers more berries. A Pebble Fox flings pebbles. A Stump Bear blocks. Later unlocks add moles, otters, twin foxes, porcupines, owls for flying moths, skunks, and panthers. The Paw Tool removes a cub and refunds half its cost. Each open trail has one Thistle Roller; when a bug reaches the den, that roller is spent. The first time that happens, one Pantry Rescue riddle can put the roller back. A wrong rescue loses the night. From night five, Wisdom Berries open a riddle; a correct answer pays berries and opens a gift choice (instant recharge, a free raccoon, a gust that pushes bugs back, or a honey shield). Every third correct answer in a row also grants a gift. Quiz Bugs wear answer signs; hitting the right one clears them. The Hive Captain's riddle exposes its weak spot. Clear night twenty-five and winter is saved.

Spending every berry on foxes and leaving a trail empty fails against crickets (they hop the first cub) and moths (only the owl stops them). A roller lost early cannot be rescued twice. Read Hoot before the den fills. Skip a Wisdom Berry and you skip the gift; guess a Quiz Bug and the wrong ones hurry.

On paper, draw five trails, use coins as cubs, and walk "bugs" down the lines while asking a question between waves — math, science, words, or world knowledge. Inventing the next berry riddle with two near misses is the richer task.

Blockers before throwers, later regions (Meadow Edge through Moonlit Hive), and a read Hive Captain riddle are the wins. When Hoot's fact returns in conversation, the defense taught something.
